Q1: Can nylon washers replace steel washers in all marine joints?
A: No. Nylon washers are for insulation and protection — they are not load-bearing structural washers. For preload-critical structural joints, use hardened steel washers (DIN 6916 / ISO 7089 Grade 200HV). Nylon washers are suitable for equipment mounting, panel fastening, and non-structural insulation.
Q2: Will nylon washers absorb water and swell?
A: PA6 absorbs 1.5–2.0% moisture after 24h immersion; PA66 absorbs 0.8–1.5%. For continuously submerged applications, PA66 is preferred due to lower absorption. In most marine above-water installations, dimensional change is negligible.
Q3: What is the difference between PA6 and PA66 washers?
